A SKETCH FOR SAMMY 2025

Are you an aspiring comedy writer? Got an idea you want to shout about? Would you like to see your gags performed on the stage? Then listen up… A Sketch for Sammy is back!

The writers of the six best scripts, as chosen by our panel of judges, comedians Cal Halbert and Kelly Rickard, comedy director Emma Roxburgh, writer Tony Gannie and Sunday for Sammy producer Ray Laidlaw, will be mentored and assisted to hone and polish their work.  Once completed, all six sketches will be performed by our company of actors in front of a comedy-hungry audience at the Sketch for Sammy final to be held at the Exchange 1856 in North Shields on 12th October 2025.  A Sketch for Sammy will be hosted by Cal Halbert and Kelly Rickard and will also feature a bumper supporting bill of music and comedy.  

 

All six finalists will receive a pair of tickets for the Sunday for Sammy comeback show and the writer of the winning sketch will be awarded the prestigious ‘Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais Comedy Award’.  All competitors also have a chance of seeing their sketch performed at the Sunday for Sammy comeback show at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on 15th February 2026.

 

The closing date for entries is 31st August 2025, all six finalists will be contacted by 14th September 2025.
